"Management is probably one of the most important of all the human activities one can think of. As an area of learning and practice, it is also the most ubiquitous. As a teacher my passion is to instill excitement in students about learning and practicing management for the good of humanity."

"From early on, I always wanted to be a teacher. My first University level teaching experience was during my B.Tech. days at the Indian School of Mines (now IIT Dhanbad) where my chemistry professor let me teach few classes on thermodynamics. Thermodynamics continued to be my passion and I have used this beautiful science in my doctoral studies too. I have even written a working paper on understanding the phenomena of nucleation and growth of organizations using the basic principles of thermodynamics."

"My teaching is heavily influenced by both my training in physical sciences and the new found interest in organizing, managing and leading (OML). In the last few years I found teaching sustainability most rewarding because it requires the application of knowledge from psychology to physics, management to materials science, energy engineering to ethics etc. This interdisciplinarity is both challenging and exciting - making it uniquely rewarding for me as a teacher."

"In the last few years I have developed a keen interest in evolutionary psychology and behavioral Economics and have already started incorporating ideas from these disciplines in my OML and strategy classes."

"I want to make all my students passionate problem solvers. I also constantly remind them that a solution to a problem becomes a solution only when the problem really gets solved, until then it is just an intention or an idea!"

"Also I encourage my students to always remember that LIFE IS ALL ABOUT MAKING CHOICES and my duty as a teacher is to show them the mirror so that they not only remember the choices they have made, but also reflect on the potential consequences and opportunity costs of their choices."

Education

Dr. Eng. (1998), University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan

MBA (1999), Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K.

Ph. D. (1993), University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands

M. Tech. (1987), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India
