  • The fee in US$ as detailed above shall be paid only by demand draft in favor of the LM Thapar School of Management, payable at Patiala, at the time of counseling. Rooms in the hostel will be allocated only after receipt of full fees at the time of counseling.

The hostel fee for the students residing in developing nations is same as mentioned in category ‘A – General students’. The entire payment shall be made before the occupation of the Hostel Rooms. The facility will be subject to availability of AC/Non-AC Rooms.

Important Note for all Applicants:

  • All Hostel dues are subject to change due to inflation or revision of tariffs even for students already enrolled. The above hostel fee is applicable for the academic session 2026-28 only.
  • Hostel rooms are subject to availability.
  • Room in Hostel will be allocated only after receipt of full fees at the time of counseling.
  • Your choice of Hostel room selection will remain the same for one full year (2 semesters) and cannot be changed during the time.
  • Hostel fees and charges such as electricity and maintenance are governed by prevailing tariffs and can be changed with prior written communication in the subsequent semester.

  • Group insurance: All the enrolled students of the program are covered under Group Insurance scheme. This policy covers a risk of Rs. 1 lakh in eventuality of occurrence of death of student due to accident. The coverage will be effective from July 1st of the relevant year.
  • Amartya Shiksha Yojna policy: The policy is for covering expenses to be incurred for the education of the student. This policy’s benefits are given in case of an accidental contingency to the insured parent/ guardian of the insured student for contribution of education in respect of the covered courses till completion of the course.

    Accidental death/ permanent total disablement of the parent/ guardian who bear the expenses and in whose favor the policy has been issued.

    "Accident" covers the contingency of death/ permanent total disablement resulting directly from external, violent and visible means.

    The claim will be subject to the definition and coverage of Insurance Policy cover issued by the insurance company.

    The coverage will be effective from July 1st of the relevant year.

The fees will be refunded as per the AICTE fee refund policy.

Any student who has secured a scholarship during admission will be able to carry it for one full academic year (Semesters 1 & 2), provided the following conditions are met:

  • The student must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each semester.
  • The student should not have backlogs in any subject.
  • The student must not be involved in any disciplinary action throughout the semester.

To be eligible for continuation of the scholarship in the second year of the MBA program (Semesters 3 & 4), students must meet the following academic and conduct standards:

Apart from the admission-based scholarships, 15 additional merit scholarships will be awarded to MBA students who did not receive a scholarship at the time of admission. These scholarships will be applicable for the 3rd and 4th semesters (final year of MBA) and will be awarded based on academic performance.

  • Only students who achieve a CGPA of 9.00 and above after the second semester will be considered.

  • The scholarship will continue into the 4th semester only if the student maintains a CGPA of 9.00 and above in the 3rd semester.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate Degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA or corresponding grade secured from a recognized University/Institute.

    Post Graduate degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA or corresponding grade from a recognized University/Institute.
    OR
    Graduate with a professional qualification scoring a minimum percentage of 50% in all parts/sections of the Intermediate examination of CA/ CS/ ICWA/ Institute of Actuaries of India.
    OR
    Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the program provisionally only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before June 30, 2026) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
    The minimum percentage required is 45% in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories.
  • Candidate must have valid CAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ CMAT/ TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitute Test).
  • Candidates having extraordinary managerial/leadership potential demonstrated through at least one year of experience are preferred.

Admission to the MBA at LM Thapar School of Management is highly competitive and is based on a comprehensive assessment of the intent and ability of the applicant to pursue a formal learning program in management.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on the details furnished in the application form and will be invited for further assessment and interview, as per the following:

A. Professional Readiness

  • Interview – An interaction with the admissions panel, where the applicant is assessed for overall fit based on parameters such as motivation to pursue an MBA, willingness to learn, task orientation, teamwork temperament, initiative, energy, capacity for hard work, sense of social cause, and empathy.

B. Academic Readiness

It is measured based on the applicant’s performance in CAT / XAT / GMAT / CMAT. Applicants who have not taken any of the tests mentioned above will be required to take the Thapar Management Aptitude Test (TMAT) on the day of the interview. Note: Scores in various tests are scaled and normalized for a fair comparison.

C. Academic History

It comprises four parts:

  • Class 10th Performance
  • Class 12th Performance
  • Graduation Performance (Penultimate Year)
  • Work Experience

Computation of Merit Score

  • The weights given to the components A, B, and C are 40%, 40%, and 20% respectively. A diversity factor is also considered under component A.
  • Final merit is prepared based on the Net Score, calculated using the following formula:
    Net Score = (0.4 × A) + (0.4 × B) + (0.2 × C)
  • A, B, and C represent the applicant’s scores in Professional Readiness, Academic Readiness, and Candidate Profile respectively.

Emerging Leader Scholarships (Merit-Based)

Financial support in the form of scholarships is extended by our school. We award a number of scholarships on our MBA program to applicants who have achieved excellence in their prior academic studies. A key consideration in our selection of Scholarship awards will therefore be the degree to which we believe the candidate will make a significant contribution to the quality of the Thapar’s MBA programme. There are 110 Merit scholarships available for the batch of 240 students and under this category we have 100%,50%,30% and 20% scholarships.

Awards are granted based on the applicant’s ranking in the admission evaluation process. The scholarships are non-transferable under any circumstances.
