Biography

Dr. Vipul Gupta is Associate Dean – Internationalization and Professor in the Operations area at LM Thapar School of Management, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (formerly Thapar University), Derabassi Campus, Punjab, where he has been associated since 2013. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Malta, Europe, since 2017.

Dr. Vipul Gupta is a seasoned academic and industry professional with over 19 years of combined experience in operations management, project execution, and executive training. He holds a PhD and MBA in Operations from the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from RGPV, Bhopal. His professional qualifications include certifications in Project Management (IPMA), Decision Modelling (IIT Delhi), Six Sigma and Disaster Management (TCS), and Statistical Modelling for Data Analysis (IIT Kharagpur). His core areas of expertise include Production and Operations Management, Lean Manufacturing, Organizational Performance Assessment, and Project Management. Dr. Gupta brings valuable industry exposure from his early career in Sales, Branch Operations, and Distribution Management with ICICI and Karvy, followed by over 14 years of academic and research experience.

As a consultant and industry trainer, Dr. Gupta has led impactful engagements focused on supply chain performance, productivity improvement, and waste reduction using Lean Six Sigma methodologies. His notable consulting assignments include a performance assessment and team-building workshop for MSMEs in Punjab and a performance improvement project for a leading tyre manufacturing company. He has also collaborated with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to design and deliver training programs for industry professionals. Known for blending academic insight with practical applications, Dr. Gupta offers results-oriented workshops and consulting solutions tailored to the operational challenges of modern organizations.
