Biography

Dr. Sandeep Goyal is a Professor in the Information Systems and Business Analytics area at LM Thapar School of Management, Derabassi, India. He also serves as the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Digital Content Transformation.

Dr. Goyal earned his Fellow Programme in Management (Strategic Management) from the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon. He also holds a Post Graduate Programme in Management with a specialization in Marketing & International Business from MDI Gurgaon, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. He has further enhanced his qualifications with certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP), and IT Service Management (ITIL).

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Goyal held senior management and consulting roles across global firms such as Infosys, Amdocs, Mastercard, and Tata Consultancy Services, among others, gaining over 18 years of industry experience in service delivery, consulting, and project management across geographies.

Dr. Goyal’s research spans across social entrepreneurship, digital platforms, circular economy, and innovative business models at the base of the pyramid (BoP). He has published over 33 ABDC-indexed journal articles (including 11 A-level), authored a book published by Cambridge University Press, contributed book chapters, and developed multiple Ivey and Harvard Business School teaching cases. His work has earned citations in top academic databases including Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science.

Dr. Goyal has undertaken consulting assignments for the Government of India on topics such as vaccine development, PPE manufacturing value chains, and creative economy research. His teaching portfolio includes MBA and PhD-level courses on analytics, information systems, strategic management, and digital transformation.

With a passion for bridging theory and practice, Dr. Goyal continues to contribute to academia, research, consulting, and academic leadership in higher education.

  • Jul 2021- May 2022: Undertaking the research and consulting assignment with Government of India regarding “COVID-19: India’s Vaccine Development and Implementation Story.” Involved as a Fellow Consultant with Institute for Competitiveness to lead this project related to COVID-19 launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
  • June 2020 – Dec 2020: Undertook the research and consulting assignment with Government of India regarding “A Study of Indigenous Value Chain Setup for Manufacturing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) During COVID-19 Pandemic Situation.” Involved as a Fellow Consultant with Institute for Competitiveness to lead this project related to COVID-19 launched by the Ministry of Textiles.
  • May 2013: Undertook the consulting assignment on MSMEs done by Institute for Competitiveness in collaboration with FICCI, SIDBI, and GIZ. The analysis report titled “Business Model of Service Delivery and MSME - Analysis of select cases in India” was released on 14 May, 2013.
