Biography

Dr. Amit Kumar Bhardwaj is an Associate Professor at the L M Thapar School of Management, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Dera Bassi campus, where he teaches and researches in Artificial Intelligence for Business, Big Data for managers, and cloud computing. Over a career spanning more than 25 years at TIET, he has combined academic leadership with hands-on technology building, curriculum design, and industry?aligned capacity development.

From 2000-2008, Dr. Bhardwaj served as System Analyst cum Programmer in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering (Patiala). In that role he led software development, DSP/MATLAB lab administration, and multi-platform server management (Silvaco, Linux, Windows, Novell), maintained institutional web services, and delivered 20+ skill-development workshops-including intensive training in PCB design. He then served as Assistant Professor (2008-2022), contributing to teaching, research, and institute building, before taking up his current post as Associate Professor (2022-present).

Dr. Bhardwaj's academic portfolio spans AI for Business, Fundamental of Business Analytics, Big Data for Managers, Managing Information for Businesses, Excel Modelling for Decision Making, Business Application of cloud computing, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Information Systems Security.

He has 40+ research publications, four patents, and has supervised three PhD scholars in machine learning, AI applications in agriculture, and power optimization in edge computing.

As Co-Principal Investigator, he co-led a ?72.94 lakh MeitY (Government of India) project on AI, Big Data, and IoT capacity building for SC/ST communities under the R&D in CC&BT initiative at Panjab University. Internationally, he collaborates with Dr. Yuvraj Gajpal (University of Manitoba, Canada) and has completed three one-month research visits to Manitoba under Dr. Gajpal's sponsorship. Beyond academia, he actively mentors student and early-stage entrepreneurs, guiding them from ideation to successful market entry.
